Election in 62 days: EC seeks transport service providers



KATHMANDU: With 62 days remaining until the House of Representatives (HoR) election scheduled for March 5, the Election Commission (EC) has called on relevant parties to apply for the transportation of essential election materials.

According to the Commission, helicopters, trucks, containers, and courier services will be used to deliver election materials, and firms or companies operating in these sectors have been invited to enlist. Interested service providers must submit applications after meeting the required criteria.

Applicants are required to submit copies of their operating licenses issued by the concerned authorities, Value Added Tax (VAT) registration certificates, tax clearance certificates up to fiscal year 2081/82, and documents showing transaction details for the past three fiscal years.

For helicopter rental services, the minimum average annual turnover for the last three fiscal years must be Rs 30 million. Companies providing truck and container services must submit transaction details worth at least Rs 10 million, while courier service providers must show transactions of at least Rs 3 million.

Courier service applicants must also submit details of their offices and representatives in all 77 districts, including telephone and mobile contact numbers.

The Commission has clarified that applications submitted for listing in more than one category will not be considered. It has also stated that it reserves the right to accept or reject any application at its discretion.
