DDA directs immediate recall of Calcium and Vitamin D3 medicine over quality concerns



KATHMANDU: The Department of Drug Administration (DDA) has instructed the immediate recall of a Calcium and Vitamin D3-containing medicine from the market after it was found to be below required quality standards.

In a notice issued on Monday, the Department said that a sample of the medicine collected during market monitoring was tested at the National Drug Laboratory and found not to meet the required specifications.

The product was manufactured by Grace Pharmaceuticals Pvt. Ltd., located in Tilottama-11, Rupandehi.

The affected product is “Marble (Calcium and Vitamin D3 Tablets BP)” with batch number TMA-025, manufactured in June 2025 and expiring in May 2027. The Department has ordered the recall of this batch from the market immediately.

According to the notice, the medicine failed to meet the standards specified under BP 2023 for Colecalciferol (Vitamin D3) content.

The DDA has directed manufacturers, distributors, pharmacies, healthcare institutions, and drug wholesalers to immediately stop the sale and distribution of the said batch under Section 14 of the Drug Act.

It has also instructed all concerned parties to withdraw available stock of the batch from the market and submit detailed recall reports to the Department.

The regulatory body has urged the public to avoid the use of the affected batch until further notice.
