Mixed weather system to affect across Nepal, rainfall likely

KATHMANDU: Nepal is currently experiencing the combined influence of a western low-pressure trough in the upper atmosphere, local winds, and a low-pressure system extending near the country from west to east.

According to the Weather Forecasting Division, the weather is generally cloudy across the mountainous and hilly regions of Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces, as well as parts of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces. The remaining Terai areas are partly cloudy.

At present, light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning is occurring at a few places in Koshi, Bagmati and Karnali provinces, and at one or two places in Gandaki and Sudurpaschim provinces.

The Division has forecast partly to generally cloudy conditions across the country today (Monday). The hilly and mountainous regions are expected to remain mostly cloudy, while the Terai is likely to see partly cloudy skies.

There is a possibility of adverse weather in some hilly and mountainous areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, as well as Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces.

Moderate to heavy rainfall, thunder, lightning and snowfall are likely at a few locations in these regions. One or two places in the Terai districts of Koshi and Lumbini provinces may also experience rain accompanied by thunder and lightning.
