10-year-old boy drowns while swimming in Phewa Lake



KASKI: A 10-year-old boy died after drowning while swimming in Phewa Lake in Pokhara on Friday.

The deceased has been identified as Ares Lama of Khapudi. He went missing while swimming in Phewa Lake, located in Pokhara Metropolitan City-18, according to Armed Police Superintendent Basanta Bahadur Singh of the Armed Police Force Nepal’s Kalika Battalion.

Following the incident, a team of seven divers led by Deputy Inspector of Police Tara Chandra Sharma was deployed for the search operation. The team recovered the child in an unconscious state from a depth of around 18 feet.

He was immediately rushed to the Pokhara Institute of Health Sciences for treatment, where he was later pronounced dead.
