Govt begins demolition of squatter settlement along Bagmati corridor in Teku

KATHMANDU: The government has started demolishing squatter settlements along the Bagmati Corridor in Teku and Banshighat as part of the second phase of its eviction drive in the Kathmandu Valley.

Bulldozers have been operating continuously in the area since early Friday morning, clearing structures built on encroached public land.

The move is part of the government’s broader campaign to remove settlements along riverbanks and reclaim public land, which officials say is aimed at reducing flood risks and restoring urban order.
