Thunderstorms, rain expected across most parts of country



KATHMANDU: The country is currently under the influence of a low-pressure system in the lower atmosphere near the eastern region, along with westerly and local winds.

According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, cloudy conditions have prevailed in the hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, while other parts of the country remain partly cloudy.

Light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning has already been reported in some areas of Bagmati, Gandaki, Koshi, Lumbini, and Karnali provinces.

This afternoon, generally cloudy weather is expected across the hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces, with partly cloudy conditions likely in parts of the Terai in Lumbini and Sudurpaschim.

The Department has also forecast the possibility of moderate rain and snowfall with thunder and lightning in Koshi and Madhesh provinces, as well as in several hilly and mountainous areas of the country.

Some Terai regions of Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, along with one or two places in Sudurpaschim, may also experience similar weather.

For tonight, mostly cloudy conditions are expected in Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces and surrounding hilly and mountainous areas, while the Terai belt may see partly cloudy skies.

Moderate rain and snowfall with thunder and lightning are likely in parts of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki, as well as in isolated areas of Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces.
