KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress (NC) central disciplinary committee has decided to investigate 507 complaints concerning violations of party discipline during the House of Representatives elections. The decision was made at a meeting held on Wednesday at the BP Memorial Hall.
The committee has categorized the complaints based on several factors, including involvement as independent candidates or supporters, direct campaigning against party candidates, indirect assistance to opposition candidates, participation in silence killing, and cases where elected representatives supported opposition candidates.
The panel, chaired by committee coordinator Taraman Gurung, also decided that individuals accused of disciplinary violations will be asked to provide explanations within seven days of the inquiry.
The committee issued a stern warning regarding the use of fake party letterheads to issue unauthorized statements on social media or other media platforms, emphasizing that such actions will be met with disciplinary measures under party bylaws and prevailing law.
Additionally, the committee instructed that any further complaints related to the election must be submitted by April 13, and complaints received after the deadline will not be acted upon.
Those facing potential disciplinary action include independent candidates and their supporters, individuals who directly campaigned against party nominees, those who assisted opposition candidates, persons involved in silence killing without seeking votes for NC, and elected NC representatives who aided opposition candidates in the House elections.
