Dry landslide damages three houses in Jumla village, victims yet to receive relief

KATHMANDU: A dry landslide in Hima Rural Municipality-6 has damaged three houses in Khaldhunga village, leaving families displaced and without immediate relief support.

According to Ward Chair Uparaj Adhikari, the landslide that occurred on Tuesday completely destroyed the houses of local residents Lalijang Adhikari and Buccho Adhikari.

Similarly, the house of Narjang Adhikari sustained partial damage in the incident.

Following the disaster, the affected families have been displaced and are currently taking shelter in the homes of other villagers.

Ward Chair Adhikari said that requests for relief assistance have been made to the rural municipality, provincial government, federal government, and various organizations. However, no support has been received so far.

He also recalled that in October 2022, continuous rainfall had triggered landslides in the same village, sweeping away six houses. According to him, the victims of that incident had also not received adequate relief.

Local authorities have once again urged concerned bodies to respond promptly and provide necessary assistance to the affected families.
