Chandra Bhandari voices concern over parallel activities within Nepali Congress

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress leader Chandra Bhandari has expressed dissatisfaction over growing parallel activities within the party and the conduct of senior leaders.

Taking to social media on Wednesday, Bhandari urged senior leaders, including Purna Bahadur Khadka, to adopt a more restrained and responsible approach to politics.

Targeting what he described as parallel activities led by leaders aligned with Khadka and Shekhar Koirala, Bhandari remarked that such behavior does not suit experienced figures within the party.

“Is conflict politics? Is conflict the identity of Nepalis? Disputes in defeat, disputes in victory—no patience, no process. Shouldn’t senior leaders act with maturity?” he questioned.

In a veiled criticism, Bhandari also referred to the activities of the Khadka-Koirala faction during the leadership of former party president Sher Bahadur Deuba, describing them as regressive in nature.

He noted that actions sending the wrong message from senior leaders are unfortunate and undermine the party’s image. While acknowledging that differing opinions are natural in a democratic system, Bhandari stressed that such differences should not escalate into conflict or division.

Bhandari further called on all party leaders and cadres to move forward responsibly, adhering to the party’s established norms, values, and democratic principles.
