Collective efforts imperative to promote national identity: Minister Kharel



KATHMANDU: Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Jagadish Kharel, has stressed that all should join hands in protecting and promoting national identity of Nepal.

At a programme organised on the occasion of 13th Nepali National Attire Day and the International Topi Day-2082 organised by the National Heritage Conservation Foundation in the federal capital on Thursday, Minister Kharel expressed the belief that the campaign of promoting national identity would get government’s support.

He said, “The government is committed to promoting nationality. The national flag is the symbol of national unity that connects all Nepalis. It is our pride and we have huge respect on it. Let’s actively involve to preserve the identity of being Nepali.” Minister Kharel argued he was in support of the campaign for allowing government recognition to the national attire and observe it as a celebration. “All should involve to preserve the national attire,” he mentioned.

Similarly, Foundation Chair Rajanand Mandal laid emphasis that all sides’ engagement is imperative to enhance the dignity and importance of national flag and national dress. Various individuals were honoured for their contribution in promotion of national identity on the occasion.
