Man shot dead near Armed Police BOP in Sunsari, investigation underway



SUNSARI: A man was shot dead near the Armed Police Force (APF) Base Camp BOP Laukahi in Sunsari district late Wednesday night.

According to the District Police Office, Sunsari, 45-year-old Vijay Sah of Koshi Rural Municipality–1 died after being hit by a bullet. Police said the shooting occurred around midnight, and Sah succumbed to his injuries at around 1 am.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Chandra Bahadur Khadka said Sah was shot by an unidentified person. “The bullet was fired by an unknown individual, and the victim died on the spot,” DSP Khadka said, adding that further investigation into the incident is ongoing.

However, local residents have claimed that the shooting was carried out by the Armed Police Force. Locals alleged on social media that APF personnel opened fire following a dispute with smugglers.

Police have not confirmed the claims made by locals and said all aspects of the incident are being examined as part of the investigation.
