Cold wave disrupts traffic in Daunne section of East-West Highway



KATHMANDU: Traffic movement has been affected in the Daunne section of the under-construction Narayanghat–Butwal road due to a cold wave that has made the road surface slippery. The Road Department’s Project Directorate has urged travelers to use alternative routes until conditions improve.

According to the project office, the sudden cold wave over the past few days has created difficulties on the construction stretch. Ongoing culvert works and slope construction at several locations have further complicated vehicle movement, forcing one-way traffic operation in some areas and increasing the risk of disruption.

The project has advised travelers to obtain updated and accurate information on road conditions before using this section. It also warned that traffic flow could be temporarily obstructed if conditions worsen.

As alternative routes, vehicles traveling along the East–West Highway can reach Butwal via Narayanghat–Mugling–Pokhara–Syangja–Palpa. Likewise, vehicles traveling between Kathmandu and Bardaghat West or Butwal are advised to use the Kathmandu–Mugling–Pokhara route.
