14 trekkers, including three Austrians, missing near Saribung Pass

MUSTANG: Fourteen trekkers, including three Austrians and 11 Nepalis, have been missing for the past three days near the Saribung Pass, which lies on the border of Mustang and Manang districts.

According to Mustang Chief District Officer Bishnu Prasad Bhusal, the group was en route to Phu village in Manang via the Damodarkunda area of Yara in Loghekar Damodarkunda Rural Municipality–4 when they went missing on Tuesday following heavy snowfall. The Saribung Pass, situated at an altitude of around 6,000 meters, is a remote and challenging high-altitude route.

CDO Bhusal expressed hope that the trekkers may have taken refuge at a dharamshala (religious shelter) near Damodarkunda, which is well-stocked with food and essential supplies, potentially keeping them safe.

The missing group had departed Kathmandu for the Saribung trek around two weeks ago through Himalaya Adventure Travel Company.
