Nepal Airlines to appoint new General Manager through open competition



KATHMANDU: The General Manager of Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) will now be appointed through an open competition process.

A selection committee has been formed under the coordination of Hari Prasad Mainali, Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, to identify and recommend suitable candidates.

Prime Minister Sushila Karki, who also heads the Ministry, approved the formation of the committee, according to her press coordinator Ram Bahadur Rawal.

The committee includes Captain Kul Bahadur Limbu as an expert member, while the Chief and Joint Secretaries of the ministry’s Planning and Administration Division will serve as member secretaries. The panel has been instructed to recommend candidates within a month.

In the interim, Deputy Director General Janak Raj Kalakheti, the most senior official at NAC, has been appointed Acting General Manager until a new chief is selected.

Meanwhile, Ministry spokesperson Ram Krishna Lamichhane said that Vice Chairman Bikram Rai will assume the responsibilities of the Chairman of NAC’s Board of Directors until further notice.
