BIRGUNJ: Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has emphasized that maximum efforts will be made to save lives amid the cholera outbreak in Birgunj.
Speaking during a visit to Narayani Hospital last night to assess the situation, Minister Lekhak said the government is committed to ensuring the availability of essential medical resources.
“Now that a cholera outbreak has occurred, the government is doing everything necessary to protect citizens’ lives. We will not allow a shortage of medicines or doctors,” he assured.
He also pledged to provide coordination and support for nursing staff and other healthcare workers required for treatment. “We are moving forward with the goal of bringing the outbreak under control,” Lekhak said. “It’s time for everyone to play a supportive role through coordination and facilitation wherever needed.”
Following interactions with cholera patients and their families, the minister noted that the condition of hospitalized patients is improving.
“The hospital is well-equipped, and treatment is ongoing. The number of patients is now declining,” he stated, adding that more patients are returning home after successful treatment.
