Ranjita seeks clarification from party leader Gangaram after being ousted

KATHMANDU: Ranjita Shrestha, who was recently expelled from the Nagarik Unmukti Party (NUP) during its first national convention and stripped of even ordinary membership, has sought clarification from the party’s parliamentary leader Gangaram Chaudhary.

A day after her dismissal, Shrestha on Thursday questioned Chaudhary for presiding over what she called an illegitimate central committee meeting, allegedly held in violation of the party statute. In a letter, she asked him to submit a written clarification within 24 hours of receiving the notice.

In the letter, Shrestha accused Chaudhary of holding meetings on July 1, July 25, and July 27 without informing her and beyond the authority granted by the party’s Interim Statute of 2021. She claimed that illegal decisions were made in those meetings.

She has also forwarded a copy of the clarification letter to the Election Commission.
