Heavy rainfall likely in Bagmati and Gandaki today



KATHMANDU: Heavy rainfall is likely in one or two locations within the hilly areas of Bagmati and Gandaki provinces today, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.

The Department also forecasts moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning at a few places in the Tarai region of Lumbini Province, and at isolated locations in other parts of the Tarai, including Madhesh Province.

This afternoon, the weather is expected to remain generally cloudy in the hilly regions of the country, including parts of Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces, while the Tarai will experience partly cloudy conditions.

Later tonight, the hilly regions of Koshi, Madhesh, and Sudurpaschim provinces will remain generally cloudy, with the Tarai remaining partly cloudy.

There is also a likelihood of moderate rain with thunder and lightning at several places in the hilly areas, particularly in Madhesh and Sudurpaschim provinces, and at one or two locations in the remaining Tarai regions.

The Department noted that the monsoon system remains active across the country.
