KATHMANDU: Prime Minister (PM) KP Sharma Oli has stated that the alliance between the Nepali Congress and CPN-UML has freed the country from the “drama” of repeatedly seeking trust votes.
Speaking at the House of Representatives on Friday, PM Oli emphasized that the two major parties have united to address the nation’s issues and prioritize the needs of the people.
“I would like to highlight a positive change that we haven’t seen in our parliamentary politics over the past six months. The odd situation of undermining the stability of the government and playing political games at the expense of the country and its people has now been resolved,” he said.
PM Oli added that he entered the House with confidence, bolstered by the support of both the people and Parliament.
He also reflected on his time as Prime Minister, explaining that when he sought a trust vote in Parliament, he began working on initiatives that were top priorities for the government.
“Where are we taking the projects we started? I must inform this esteemed House about this today,” Oli remarked.
He also highlighted several significant developments, including the Dhodre Tunnel in Makawanpur, part of the Kathmandu-Terai Expressway, and the Jogbani-Kimathanka road, a national pride project connecting China and India, which had both recently broken through.
PM Oli pointed out that the construction of the Butwal-Narayangadh section of the road had stalled when the government first took office due to the contractor’s abandonment of the project.
However, he noted that work is now progressing rapidly.
“The Mugling-Pokhara road, which was dusty when this government took over, is now smooth and well-maintained,” Oli said.
“We have not only ‘broken through’ development projects; we have also revived work that was left on hold.”
PM Oli also mentioned that sports have become an important part of youth culture.
Additionally, he praised the construction of the modern Karnali Stadium in Surkhet, a significant development for the region.
He emphasized that building a state-of-the-art stadium in Karnali, one of the country’s most remote areas, sends a strong message about the future of the nation’s youth.
