Kathmandu Gorkhas defeat Karnali Yaks by 6 wickets



KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Gorkhas has defeated Karnali Yaks by six wickets in a Nepal Premier League (NPL) Season 2 match played on Sunday.

Chasing a target of 150 set by Karnali, Kathmandu reached the score in 17.6 overs, losing five wickets.

Gerhard Erasmus top-scored for Kathmandu with an unbeaten 43 off 33 balls, including 2 fours and 2 sixes. John Simpson contributed 41 runs while Ben Charlesworth added 34.

For Karnali, Nandan Yadav claimed three wickets, including back-to-back dismissals in the 17th over, removing Simpson and Rashid Khan. Pawan Sharaf also took a wicket for Karnali.

Earlier, winning the toss, Karnali elected to bat and posted 149 for 7 in their 20 overs. Gulshan Jha made 49 runs, Pawan Sharaf scored 35 off 29 balls, and Mark Watt contributed 30.

Despite losing two early wickets in the first over, Karnali managed a competitive total but fell short in the chase. Kathmandu captain Karan KC dismissed Priyank Panchal on the first ball, and Will Bosisto was out in the final ball of the same over.

Bowling for Kathmandu, Rashid Khan took two wickets, while Karan KC, Milind Kumar, and Santosh Yadav took one wicket each.
