Severe flooding in Bhotekoshi; Authorities urge public to stay alert

NUWAKOT: Severe flooding has been reported in the Bhotekoshi River since 3:00 am today, causing a sharp rise in the water level of the Trishuli River.

The local administrations of Rasuwa and Nuwakot have urged residents in low-lying and riverside areas to remain on high alert.

According to Krishna Prasad Humagai, Assistant Chief District Officer of Nuwakot, the floodwaters have eroded several areas in the district, including Pyarebesi, Betrabati, Trishuli, and Devighat. Authorities have warned that floodwaters may enter settlements, posing risks to life and property.

Personnel from the Nepal Police and Armed Police Force have been using loudspeakers to urge families living near the riverbanks to move to safer locations.

The flood has also damaged the station of the ‘Trishuli–Kathmandu Transmission Line’ located in Kispang Rural Municipality-5 of Nuwakot.
