No need to doubt budget implementation: Finance Minister

KATHMANDU: Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel has urged the public not to doubt the implementation of the new budget, stating that work on the action plan will begin immediately.

Speaking at a press conference held to discuss the budget presented on Thursday, Minister Paudel announced that the Ministry of Finance would start working on the implementation framework from today itself.

He informed that capital expenditure has been increased for the upcoming fiscal year, and expressed confidence in achieving the set revenue target of 17 percent.

“The internal debt target has been set at 5.3 percent of the gross domestic product (GDP),” said Paudel. “The development program is committed to mobilizing alternative financing, with infrastructure to be built through both domestic and foreign investment.”

He also highlighted that no projects below Rs 3 crore have been included in the budget, adding, “There is no need to wait until Shrawan 1 to begin the procurement process for project implementation.”

Minister Paudel said the budget was designed to encourage the private sector, with a total allocation of Rs 1,964.11 billion for the upcoming fiscal year.
