NEPSE declines for third consecutive day



KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index continued its downward trend for the third day in a row, dropping by 8.14 points to close at 2,623.83.

As per NEPSE data, a total of 24.64 million shares from 314 companies were traded in 79,777 transactions, amounting to a total turnover of Rs 9.37 billion.

Among sectoral indices, hydropower gained 0.61 percent, microfinance rose by 0.04 percent, mutual funds increased by 0.23 percent, and the trade sector edged up by 0.40 percent. However, all other groups witnessed a decline.

The banking index dropped by 0.70 percent, development banks by 1.00 percent, finance companies by 1.24 percent, and hotel and tourism by 0.50 percent. Likewise, investment fell by 0.11 percent, life insurance by 0.07 percent, manufacturing and processing by 0.72 percent, non-life insurance by 0.18 percent, and the ‘others’ category declined by 1.16 percent.

Samaj Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited and Nepal Microinsurance Company Limited both hit the upper circuit limit, while Bhuleog Energy Development Company Limited was locked in the lower circuit.

Radhi Vidyut Company Limited recorded the highest turnover of the day at Rs 580.4 million. Meanwhile, the most actively traded stock in terms of volume was Hydroelectricity Investment and Development Company Limited Promoter, with 1.44 million shares changing hands.
