KATHMANDU: Prime Minister (PM) KP Oli is expected to respond in Parliament on Monday regarding the reasons behind the removal of Kulman Ghising from his position as Managing Director of the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA).

UML Chief Whip Mahesh Kumar Bartaula confirmed that this agreement was made during a discussion between Speaker Devraj Ghimire and the chief whips of major political parties on Sunday morning.

Bartaula also mentioned that Prime Minister Oli and opposition party leaders had a telephone conversation today on this issue.

He further informed that the Prime Minister has called an all-party meeting for today.

During the meeting, the ruling party urged the opposition to lift the obstruction in the House.

However, the opposition reiterated its stance, stating that the House would not proceed until the Prime Minister provides an answer regarding Kulman’s dismissal.

Meanwhile, Speaker Ghimire, in his meeting with the chief whips, called on the parties to create a conducive environment for discussion and debate in Parliament, highlighting that the violence in Tinkune was an attack on democracy.

The opposition has expressed strong discontent following the government’s removal of Kulman Ghising and his replacement by Hitendradev Shakya as Managing Director of the Nepal Electricity Authority.

The opposition is demanding that Prime Minister Oli address the matter in Parliament, arguing that the government has unjustly treated Kulman, who was performing well, with only four months remaining in his term.
