UML holding awareness rally in Bajhang in support of republic

BAJHANG: The CPN-UML District Committee in Bajhang is set to organize an awareness rally tomorrow (March 31) to promote and strengthen public support for the republican system.

According to UML District Committee Chairman Dil Bahadur Bhandari, the rally aims to counter public disillusionment and raise awareness about the importance of the republic, following directives from the party’s central leadership.

The decision to hold the rally was made after consultations with civil society representatives and journalists at an interaction program held in Pankot.

CPN-UML District Committee Deputy Secretary Pankaj Bhandari stated that the event emphasized the need to educate the public about the republic’s significance.

During the discussion, participants stressed the importance of strengthening internal democracy within political parties.

They also expressed concerns that certain misconducts by political parties have fueled monarchist sentiments.

The recent pro-monarchy movement has demonstrated the consequences of reviving the monarchy. In such a situation, reinforcing the republic is the best course of action.
