Festivals play key role in strengthening national unity: NA Chair Dahal

KATHMANDU: Chairman of the National Assembly (NA), Narayan Prasad Dahal, has expressed his belief that Sonam Lhosar contributes to strengthening social and cultural harmony, brotherhood, and national unity among all castes and communities.

In his message of best wishes for the Sonam Lhosar festival today, which is celebrated by the Tamang community, he noted that the festival has played a significant role in preserving and promoting the traditional culture of the Tamang people.

Chairman Dahal explained that Sonam Lhosar, a festival of nature worshipers who believe in the value of hard work, is celebrated with joy, featuring the sharing of delicacies and cultural programs that honor the community’s traditions.

“The federal democratic republican constitution, achieved through the great sacrifice and dedication of the Nepali people, has institutionalized national unity and identity based on diversity. It embraces unity amidst multi-ethnic, multi-lingual, multi-religious, and multi-cultural characteristics, as well as geographical diversity,” said Dahal.

NA Chair Dahal emphasized that such festivals contribute to the preservation of various civilizations, languages, art, culture, scripts, costumes, and cultural heritages, all while respecting the religious and cultural beliefs of different communities.
