NCP to include only new faces in proportional representation list

KATHMANDU: The Nepali Communist Party (NCP) has decided to give priority to new faces in its proportional representation (PR) list for the upcoming elections.

According to the party’s decision, no individual who has previously served as a Member of Parliament or as a minister will be included in the proportional lists for either the House of Representatives or the National Assembly.

The decision was reached through a consensus among the party’s top leadership. Under the agreement, candidates who were earlier elected either through the first-past-the-post or proportional system will not be recommended this time.

With today being the final day to submit the closed proportional list, the NCP has resolved to forward only fresh candidates in line with its commitment to internal reform and renewal.

Party leaders say the move reflects an effort to promote inclusiveness and provide opportunities to new leadership within the party structure.
