Kathmandu sees steady dip in temperatures, cold conditions persist

KATHMANDU: The cold continues to intensify across the country, including in the Kathmandu Valley. According to the Weather Forecasting Division, the minimum temperature in the Valley was recorded at 7.0 degrees Celsius at 5:45 am today (Saturday), the same as yesterday at the same time.

However, on Friday, the temperature later dropped to 6.5 degrees Celsius by 8:45 am. Since the Division publishes the official minimum temperature at 8:45 am, today’s reading may decrease slightly as well.

Meteorologists say slight fluctuations in cold conditions are normal. Cloudy nights tend to keep morning temperatures a bit higher, while clear skies allow temperatures to drop further by morning.

The Division measures minimum temperatures at 8:45 am and maximum temperatures at 5:45 pm daily in Kathmandu and other locations across the country. The lowest reading recorded during the period is taken as the day’s minimum temperature, while the highest is recorded as the maximum.
