Over 40,000 tourists visit Mustang in 10 days

MUSTANG: More than 40,000 tourists have visited Mustang from October 18 to 27, according to the District Police Office, Mustang.

A total of 37,146 domestic and 3,732 foreign tourists entered the district via the national pride project, the Beni–Jomsom road during the period.

Additionally, during this period, 11,808 vehicles—including buses, jeeps, cars, vans, and motorcycles—traveled into Mustang along the same route, informed Deputy Superintendent of Police Tshiring Kippa Lama.

However, pilgrimage travel to Muktinath has been disrupted by heavy snowfall since Monday night. On October 28 alone, 4,598 tourists entered Mustang via Myagdi, many of whom faced difficulties reaching Muktinath due to the snow-covered roads.

According to Rabin Subedi, an employee of the Muktinath Temple Development Committee, heavy snowfall along the Kagbeni–Muktinath road section and the footpath from Muktinath Bus Park to the temple has caused major inconvenience for visitors.

The temperature has dropped sharply, and the Muktinath bathing pond and 108 sacred water taps have frozen, preventing devotees from performing their religious rituals.
