Youth should lead parties to save the country: Ghanashyam Bhusal

KATHMANDU: Ghanashyam Bhusal, General Secretary of the Unified Socialist, has said that the leadership of political parties must be handed over to the younger generation in order to save the country from further decline.

Speaking at an interaction with media persons in Kathmandu on Monday, Bhusal stated that the country has reached its current state of crisis because senior leaders have held on to power within political parties solely for personal gain—even beyond their active political lives.

“The main leaders have captured the parties to enjoy power indefinitely. To save the country from collapse, leadership must now be transferred to the youth,” he said.

Bhusal criticized the major political parties for failing to take result-oriented and institutional reform initiatives, despite worsening national conditions.

He warned that if senior leaders continue to ignore the current political and social realities, the country risks entering yet another cycle of instability.

“If the parties remain indifferent, disillusioned youth will rise in opposition, and this could create space for apolitical-criminal groups and reactionary forces to gain influence,” Bhusal cautioned.

He stressed that all honest and committed leaders of the leftist movement must act urgently to prevent such a tragic scenario. Bhusal concluded by saying that the present moment offers a critical opportunity to steer the country in a new and positive direction.
