Second T20I: India’s Assam and Nepal ‘A’ to clash today

KATHMANDU: Nepal ‘A’ cricket team will play its second T20 international match against the Assam Pradesh Cricket Association team today in Guwahati, India. The match is scheduled to begin at 11 AM Nepali time.

Nepal ‘A’, captained by Anil Kumar Shah, is trailing 1-0 in the five-match series after losing the first game by 15 runs under the Duckworth-Lewis (DL) method on Thursday.

In that match, Assam posted a target of 191 runs. In response, Nepal had scored 64 runs for the loss of three wickets in eight overs before rain interrupted play, handing Assam the victory.

The current Nepal ‘A’ squad, announced by the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN), features a mix of young and experienced players. It includes all-rounder Adil Alam, batsman Sandeep Jora, and promising U-19 performer Yuvraj Khatri. Pawan Saraf, who is making a comeback from injury, has also been included.

Anil Kumar Shah, who did not get an opportunity during Nepal’s recent tour of Australia, is leading the side. The 26-year-old has previously played 14 T20Is and 17 ODIs for the national team.

CAN has said that the tour provides a valuable opportunity for emerging players to gain international exposure and prepare for future national duties. The Nepal ‘A’ team serves as a developmental squad aimed at building a pipeline of talent for the senior national team.

With one match already played, Nepal ‘A’ will now play four more matches on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.

Nepal ‘A’ squad: Anil Kumar Shah (captain), Adil Alam, Pawan Saraf, Sandeep Jora, Shubha Kanshakar, Ishan Pandey, Dev Khanal, Bivek Kumar Yadav, Kamal Singh Airee, Bashir Ahmed, Akash Chand, Sagar Dhakal, Arjun Gharti Magar, Tritaraj Das, Yuvraj Khatri, and Sher Malla.
