Myagdi’s Kopre waterfall becoming popular summer escape in Myagdi

MYAGDI: Kopre waterfall, located in Beni Municipality-2, has emerged as a popular destination for locals seeking relief from the summer heat.

In recent years, the once little-known waterfall has grown in popularity, drawing residents of Beni who are looking to enjoy nature in a cool and tranquil setting.

Situated about two kilometers west of Beni Bazaar, the waterfall lies along the banks of the Myagdi River, nestled at the base of a towering mountain. On public holidays, the area becomes lively with young people, teenagers, and adults visiting to relax and take in the natural beauty.

Priti Chhantyal, a resident of Beni who recently visited the site, shared her experience. “I felt happy being away from the noise and stress of city life. Kopre Waterfall offers peace and the joy of being immersed in nature,” she said. “It has become a perfect spot to escape the scorching heat of Beni.”

While the waterfall is modest in the winter, it swells impressively during the rainy season. The cascading water, tumbling down from around 150 meters while weaving between cliffs and rocks, becomes especially captivating on sunny days, often creating rainbows.

“It’s incredibly refreshing to stand under the cold water,” said Anand Pun of Beni. “People come here to shoot TikToks, reels, and stories for social media.”

Narayan Bahadur Karki, a local resident, said the area remains busy throughout the day during the monsoon season. He has personally invested in enhancing the area by constructing a courtyard and planting trees.

Beni Municipality has also contributed, spending Rs 250,000 on shelters, parking spaces, and iron benches. Mayor Surat KC informed that an additional Rs 200,000 has been allocated this fiscal year to further develop infrastructure at the site.

To improve access, the road connecting Hadebir in Beni to Bagarphant Kopre Falls via Dudhekhola near Bhakimli is being upgraded with support from the Gandaki Province government.

Mayor KC said efforts are underway to promote Kopre Waterfall as a prime rainy-season destination by improving road conditions, expanding infrastructure, and boosting tourism promotion.
