Bamdev Gautam attends Socialist Front meeting for the first time, calls for strong agitation against the government

KATHMANDU: Senior leader Bamdev Gautam, who joined the CPN (Unified Socialist) just a week ago, participated in the Socialist Front’s meeting for the first time on Tuesday.

He briefly attended the meeting held at the Socialist Party’s central office in Aloknagar and later stated that the Front had decided to become more active and expansive.

Gautam said that the presence of Netra Bikram Chand ‘Biplav’ and efforts to expand the Front had brought new energy among the leaders. He noted that following a review of the Front’s past performance, there is now a plan to launch a large-scale movement soon.

“The Front is preparing for a strong protest – against corruption, against the current disorder, and against a government that is leading the country towards ruin,” said Gautam.

He added that Biplav’s willingness to be actively involved had boosted the morale of the leadership, and there was now a consensus to establish the Front as a significant socialist force.

Gautam stressed that the Front should not exist merely as a symbolic organization and must move forward with a clear roadmap addressing the concerns and aspirations of the people.

“It is time to build a new political force focused on the people’s issues and the creation of a socialist state,” he said.

According to Gautam, leaders including Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda,’ Madhav Kumar Nepal, and Biplav agreed with his proposal.

However, Gautam clarified that discussions on party unification among the member parties of the Front have not yet taken place and that party unification is not possible at this point.

CPN leader Khadga Bahadur Bishwakarma ‘Prakanda,’ also present at the meeting, said a decision was made to bring together all parties that share a socialist vision under the Front.
