Govt cites resource constraints for not increasing civil servant salary

KATHMANDU: The government has decided not to raise civil servant salaries in the new fiscal year but will increase the monthly dearness allowance to Rs 5,000, Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel announced.

“Although we recognize the need to adjust civil servants’ benefits to current conditions, limited resources have made a salary hike unfeasible,” Poudel said while presenting the budget.

“However, I have decided to increase the dearness allowance to Rs 5,000 per month for all civil servants.”
