KATHMANDU: The government has unveiled plans to advance and implement the “Podway” public transport system.
Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel announced this initiative while presenting the annual budget for fiscal year 2082/83 (2025-26).
Previously, a feasibility study agreement for the Podway service in Koshi Province was signed. During the Investment Summit held on Baisakh 18-19, 2082 (May 2025), the Koshi Province government and Kathmandu Podway Company formalized this collaboration.
Podway is a cutting-edge public transport technology where pods travel along suspended cable tracks using rail-based technology.
With its modern design and innovative features, Podway is viewed as a next-generation public transportation solution and a major technological advancement in urban mobility.
