Rs 420 million allocated for stadiums under construction; Kirtipur cricket ground to be upgraded



KATHMANDU: The government has announced increased investment in sports infrastructure.

Presenting the budget for the upcoming fiscal year, Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel said that the private sector will also be encouraged to invest in the sports sector.

He announced plans to construct a modern, international-standard stadium in Dakkam, Jhapa.

Additionally, Rs 420 million has been allocated for the ongoing construction of stadiums in Mulpani (Kathmandu), Morang, Kailali, and Rupandehi districts.

Likewise, Rs 400 million has been earmarked for upgrading the cricket stadium in Kirtipur.

A conditional grant has also been arranged for acquiring the assets of the Gautam Buddha Cricket Stadium under construction in Chitwan. The valuation will be carried out by the Institute of Engineering at Tribhuvan University.
