Lawmaker Kathayat urges govt to prioritize Karnali in upcoming budget

KATHMANDU: Binita Kathayat, a lawmaker from the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), has urged the government to prioritize Karnali Province in the upcoming fiscal year’s budget.

Speaking during a special hour of the House of Representatives meeting today, she emphasized that at least 15 percent of the total capital expenditure should be allocated for the development of roads, transportation, education, health, and employment sectors in Karnali.

Kathayat accused the state of consistently depriving Karnali of adequate budget and resources. She also criticized the government for neglecting Karnali’s representation in appointments to state bodies.

“There is a need for policies and laws that can promote and uplift the province,” she asserted.

Meanwhile, Mahendra Ray Yadav expressed concern over the government’s lack of seriousness regarding the demands of protesting school teachers. “The ongoing protest has seriously disrupted the teaching-learning process. The issue must be resolved through dialogue,” he said.
