RPP blames govt. for Tinkune incident, holds it responsible for violence and vandalism

KATHMANDU: Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) has placed full responsibility for the violent incidents during Friday’s pro-monarchy protest at Tin Kune, Kathmandu, on the government.

In a central executive committee meeting held on Saturday, RPP concluded that government actions led to the escalation of violence, resulting in two fatalities.

Speaking to journalists after the meeting, RPP Chair Rajendra Lingden accused the government of deliberately provoking violence in an attempt to disrupt a peaceful protest.

“The government sent security forces with the intention of suppressing the movement. The use of tear gas from rooftops escalated the situation,” Lingden said.

He further claimed that the government’s true motive was to incite violence and tarnish the reputation of pro-monarchy demonstrators.

Lingden also issued an ultimatum, demanding the release of RPP Senior Vice-chair Rabindra Mishra and General Secretary Dhawal Shamsher Rana within 24 hours, asserting that neither had engaged in vandalism.

Additionally, RPP has called for journalist Suresh Rajak, who died in a fire, and Sabin Maharjan, who was shot dead, to be declared martyrs, with compensation provided to their families.
