Dhawal Shamsher’s arrest notice reaches Parliament Secretariat

KATHMANDU: A letter confirming the arrest of Dhawal Shamsher Rana, the General Secretary of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party and a member of Parliament, has reached the Parliament Secretariat from the Kathmandu Police Range.

Rana was arrested on Friday from his residence following the destruction and vandalism that occurred during the pro-royalist demonstration in Tinkune.

Padma Prasad Pandey, general secretary of the Federal Parliament Secretariat, confirmed the receipt of the arrest notice from the police.

Rana is one of the key members of the ‘Monarchy Restoration Movement’, and Rabindra Mishra, the senior vice chair of RPP (Rastriya Prajatantra Party), was arrested along with him.

On Saturday, RPP’s senior leaders Pashupati Shamsher JBR and Dr. Prakash Chandra Lohani visited the detainees. Meanwhile, RPP has given the government an ultimatum to release the arrested leaders.
