KATHMANDU: Durga Prasai, who incited chaos in the Tinkune area of Kathmandu on Friday in the name of a supporter of the former king, was found hiding in a shutter after the protest spiraled out of control.

A viral video circulating on social media shows Prasai urging protesters to resort to violence from his hiding spot before fleeing the scene in another vehicle.

The unrest erupted after Prasai and his supporters broke into a restricted area, leading to clashes, arson, and destruction. Two people lost their lives, and several vehicles and buildings were set on fire.

Meanwhile, Kathmandu Police have arrested several key figures linked to the demonstrations, including RPP Senior Vice President Rabindra Mishra, General Secretary Dhawal Shamsher Rana, and royalist spokesperson Swagat Nepal.

They face charges of inciting violence and engaging in unlawful activities.

Authorities are still searching for Prasai, who reportedly turned off his phone and disappeared after learning of his imminent arrest.

The police have placed Nawaraj Subedi, the alleged coordinator of the royalist group, under house arrest.

Law enforcement is preparing to file serious charges, including robbery, arson, organized crime, and murder, against those involved.

While Prasai had earlier challenged the police to arrest him, he has since vanished without a trace, prompting a continued manhunt.
