PM Oli pays tribute to martyrs on Martyrs’ Day

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli paid homage to the nation’s martyrs by visiting the Martyrs’ Memorial and Shahid Gate on the occasion of Martyrs’ Day.

He laid a wreath at the statues of those who sacrificed their lives for democracy and the establishment of the republic.

Martyrs’ Day is being observed across the country today with various programs held in remembrance of those who fought for democracy and freedom in different historical periods. The occasion has been marked annually since January 1951.

Cable car won’t harm religious and cultural values at Pathibhara, claims Yogesh Bhattarai

UML Secretary Yogesh Kumar Bhattarai has urged all stakeholders to resolve the ongoing dispute surrounding the construction of the Pathibhara cable car in Taplejung through dialogue.

His remarks come in the wake of a violent clash between protesters and police on January 25, which left over 24 people injured.

Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, Bhattarai, who also represents Taplejung in the House of Representatives, emphasized the need for social harmony while making public his 19-point stance on the under-construction Pathibhara Devi (Mukkumlung ) cable car. He asserted that no activity should be undertaken that could disturb social cohesion.

PM Oli calls for reforms in politics and governance

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has emphasized the need for comprehensive reforms in all sectors of society, including politics, to ensure stability and prosperity.

Speaking at the inaugural session of the first Young Lawyers Summit, organized by the Nepal Bar Association and the Young Lawyers Concern Committee, Oli asserted that the country cannot be run through mere political stunts. He stressed the importance of fulfilling responsibilities with honesty and dedication to free Nepal from disorder and poverty.

Highlighting the role of democracy, Oli stated that since it has been established through the leadership of political parties and public participation, all stakeholders must commit to maintaining peace, security, good governance, and prosperity.

Sapkota elected president of Akhil Krantikari (ANNISU-R)

Bijay Prakash Sapkota has been elected as the president of the All Nepal National Independent Students Union (Revolutionary), or ANNISU-R, the student wing of CPN (Maoist Center).

According to the final vote count concluded at Parisdanda, Sapkota defeated his rival Hemant Rai by a margin of 73 votes.

Sapkota had the backing of Maoist Centre Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and Deputy General Secretary Shakti Basnet, while Rai was supported by Deputy General Secretary Janardan Sharma.

Janamorcha announce week-long anti-federalism protest in Kathmandu

The Rastriya Janamorcha has announced a week-long protest against federalism in Kathmandu from Chaitra 24 to 30.

During an interaction program organized by Janamorcha Kathmandu on Wednesday, party chair Chitra Bahadur KC presented a concept paper outlining the protest plan.

“We are pleased to announce that the Rastriya Janamorcha will hold a capital-centered movement against federalism from Chaitra 24 to 30,” the document stated.

Socialist Front to hold mass gathering in Kathmandu, Biplab remains coordinator

The Socialist Front, led by the CPN (Maoist Centre), has announced a mass gathering in Kathmandu on Magh 24.

The decision was made during a meeting held at the central office of the CPN (Unified Socialist) in Aloknagar.

The meeting also decided to organize another mass gathering in Madhesh Province in the first week of Chaitra, with Nepal Samajbadi Party, led by Mahindra Raya Yadav, responsible for organizing the event.
