PM Oli pays tribute to martyrs on Martyrs’ Day

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli paid homage to the nation’s martyrs by visiting the Martyrs’ Memorial and Shahid Gate on the occasion of Martyrs’ Day.

He laid a wreath at the statues of those who sacrificed their lives for democracy and the establishment of the republic.

Martyrs’ Day is being observed across the country today with various programs held in remembrance of those who fought for democracy and freedom in different historical periods. The occasion has been marked annually since January 1951.

Deputy Prime Minister, ministers, members of parliament from various political parties, the Chief Secretary of the Government of Nepal, heads of security agencies, and the Deputy Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City also paid their respects to the martyrs.

A special ceremony will be held later today at the Singha Durbar premises, where Prime Minister Oli will be the chief guest.
