One dead, two injured as car plunges 42 feet off BP Highway in Sindhuli



SINDHULI: One person died and two others were injured when a car veered off the BP Highway and plunged 42 feet down at Chainpur in Sunkoshi Rural Municipality–6, Sindhuli, on Tuesday.

According to police, the car (Ba 7 Cha 7554) was en route to Kathmandu from Biratnagar when it lost control and crashed off the road.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Surya Prakash Subedi said the vehicle, driven by 65-year-old Om Bahadur Arjel of Biratnagar Metropolitan City–17, went out of control, resulting in the accident.

Police rescued the injured and rushed them to Aatmiya Community Hospital in Khalde. Despite efforts, driver Om Bahadur Arjel succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

His wife, 49-year-old Sunita Arjel, is reported to be in critical condition, while their 31-year-old son, Nishant Arjel, was referred to Dhulikhel Hospital after receiving primary treatment at Aatmiya Community Hospital.
