Minister Sinha vows to promote cottage industries

KATHMANDU: Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supply, Anil Kumar Sinha, pledged government support to develop and promote cottage and small industries as a key to a thriving economy.

He made the remarks during a meeting with representatives of the Federation of Nepal Cottage and Small Industries. “Small and cottage industries are the backbone of the national economy. Therefore, the government prioritizes this sector to foster further growth,” the minister emphasized.

Although his tenure as minister has been brief, Sinha assured that he would do his best to promote small industries through effective initiatives. He also highlighted the government’s commitment to prioritizing the use of locally produced goods, which, he said, would help create jobs and reduce imports.

According to the minister, local resources could be utilized in reconstruction projects. Public offices will be encouraged to procure national products, especially for furniture and rebuilding activities, he added.
