Prachanda claims to be first prime minister to raise Kalapani-Limpiyadhura issue with India

BIRATNAGAR:  CPN (Maoist Centre) Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has claimed that he was the first prime minister of Nepal to directly raise the Kalapani and Lipulekh border dispute with India.

Addressing a provincial secretariat meeting of the party in Biratnagar, Prachanda said he had discussed the matter seriously during his most recent visit to India as prime minister.

“When I visited India as prime minister, I held a serious discussion on the Kalapani and Lipulekh issues. It was under my leadership that the Indian prime minister publicly announced that the Nepal–India border problem should be resolved through dialogue,” he said, urging party members to communicate this clearly to the public.

Prachanda stressed that the current government should continue the initiatives taken during his tenure to formally address border issues. He further remarked that it is the responsibility of party cadres to inform citizens about the positive achievements made under his leadership.

He also highlighted the need for criticism and self-reflection within the party, warning that ideological confusion and indiscipline were creating challenges for the organization.

Noting the concerns and suggestions of provincial leaders, Prachanda said the party must be prepared to face greater challenges ahead.
