Prachanda says efforts to bar Bidya Devi Bhandari from politics are unnatural

BIRATNAGAR: CPN-Maoist Centre Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal has described attempts to prevent former President Bidya Devi Bhandari from returning to politics as unnatural.

Speaking to journalists at Biratnagar Airport on Thursday, Dahal said it is common practice internationally for former presidents and vice presidents to re-enter political life, and therefore, there is nothing inappropriate about their return.

He also noted that the re-entry of former presidents and vice presidents into politics does not undermine the legitimacy of the Constitution. While praising the current Constitution as exemplary, Dahal highlighted issues in its implementation due to the absence of laws necessary to operationalize it effectively.

Dahal further clarified that any actions taken against party decisions or established legal procedures would not be tolerated.

Responding to questions about party members doubting leadership decisions, he stated that a lack of trust by some individuals, including Janardan Sharma, would not halt party activities or movements.

On issues related to Kalapani and Lipulekh, Dahal stressed the need to resolve border disputes with neighboring countries through dialogue and negotiation.
