KATHMANDU: Suresh Rajak, a cameraman at Avenues Television, has lost his life after being burned alive in a house set on fire by royalist protesters in Tinkune, Kathmandu.
The incident occurred during a violent protest led by royalists, who had clashed with the police. The protesters accused the occupants of the house of being police officers.
Following the altercation, the house, identified as Marble House, was set ablaze. Rajak’s body was discovered burnt beyond recognition inside the building, raising further concerns over the brutality of the protest.
While police investigations are underway, it has been confirmed that Rajak, who worked at Avenues Television. Earlier, the royalists had thrown stones at the house, breaking all the windows before setting it on fire.
The police are collecting statements to understand the full scope of the events leading to Rajak’s untimely death.
