KATHMANDU: An investigation has been launched into the tragic deaths of two teenage girls in Achham, with support from the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB).
The bodies of Isra Khadka and Saraswati Khadka, both 14 years old, were found on Saturday evening in a forest area after they had gone there to graze goats.
The postmortem of the two girls was conducted on Monday at Bheri Hospital, Nepalgunj, and the police are awaiting the results of the report.
According to the District Police Office, Achham, the postmortem report is expected within a few days. The investigation into the case is ongoing, but authorities have stated that more details will emerge once the report is finalized.
Achham Police Chief and Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ishwori Prasad Bhandari confirmed that the bodies, after the postmortem, are being transported back to Achham today.
“The report has not come yet, and the facts about the incident may be revealed after the postmortem report. We are bringing the body back today and will likely hand it over to the relatives,” DSP Bhandari said.
The family of the deceased girls has insisted that the bodies will not be received until the investigation is completed. They are raising concerns that the deaths may have been a murder and are preparing to file a complaint against five individuals.
At present, two individuals suspected of involvement in the incident are in police custody, though their identities have not been disclosed.
The Sudurpaschim Provincial Police Office, based in Dhangadhi, has also dispatched a separate team to assist with the investigation. Provincial Police Chief and DIG Ganesh Chand assured that additional resources are being mobilized to support the ongoing investigation.
The deaths of Isra and Saraswati have left the local community shaken, with their relatives demanding a thorough investigation to determine the cause and circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
