BIRATNAGAR: Nepali Congress leader Shekhar Koirala has emphasized that politics should center on the nation and the people, not business or personal gain.
Speaking at a function organized by the Nona Koirala Memorial Foundation in honor of leader Nona Koirala, Koirala criticized the current political landscape, claiming it has failed to prioritize public welfare.
“Politics today is driven by power and money,” he said, expressing concern over the direction of the nation’s leadership.
Koirala also accused those in power across all three tiers of government of serving their personal interests rather than the public good.
“Nepali politics is becoming commercialized. It should not be a business, but a service to the people,” he remarked.
He further voiced concerns over the rush to pass ordinances just as the parliamentary session approaches.
