Pokhara Avengers claim first win as Janakpur remain winless

KATHMANDU: The Pokhara Avengers has finally registered their first victory, defeating the Janakpur Bolts in today’s match of Season 2 of the Nepal Premier League, at TU International Cricket Ground, Kirtipur.

Pokhara, who had lost both of their previous games, reached a strong total of 165 runs, thanks to a brilliant unbeaten 50 from Sumeet Verma off just 29 balls, including two fours and four sixes. Contributions also came from Dinesh Kharel with 38 and Adam Rossington with 24 runs.

In reply, Janakpur once again struggled with the bat. They were restricted to 130 for nine in their 30 overs, continuing their winless run this season.

Bowler Bipin Khatri was the standout performer for Pokhara. He dismantled Janakpur’s top order, taking four wickets while giving away only 15 runs in four overs. His early breakthroughs put immediate pressure on the defending champions.

For Janakpur, Sanjay Krishnamurthy top-scored with 25, but the team failed to find any momentum after losing two wickets in the very first over.

This victory brings much-needed relief for the Pokhara Avengers, while the Janakpur Bolts will need to regroup quickly to keep their campaign alive.
