Police disperse group attempting to incite violence at KIST Hospital in the name of Gen-Z

KATHMANDU: Tension flared at KIST Hospital in Lalitpur after relatives of a woman who died during pregnancy accused doctors of negligence.

The enraged relatives broke through police barriers and vandalized hospital property. Former lawmaker Ram Kumar Rai (Pasang) and other local leaders arrived at the hospital for talks.

While discussions were ongoing, another group claiming to represent the Gen-Z movement arrived at the hospital premises with loudspeakers.

According to eyewitness Tej Bantawa Rai, the group was not related to the victim’s family and appeared intent on sparking violence. “Some unrelated people came in the name of the Gen-Z movement. While we were in talks, police chased them away,” Rai said in a video statement.

Police dispersed the crowd after several unidentified youths gathered around the hospital area chanting Gen-Z slogans and attempting to escalate the situation.

Talks between local leaders from Khotang and the victim’s family are currently underway at the hospital.
